February 2024 Roaster's Select: Peru Blend
For February, we shipped our Roaster's Select members an exclusive Peru Blend, a delicious and sustainable coffee from Junin, Peru. This coffee is produced by Caniari, a group of coffee farmers who are passionate about quality and ecology.About the farm
Caniari is a group of 256 smallholder farmers who work together to improve their livelihoods and their coffee quality. They have a diverse and inclusive membership, with over 28% of the producers being women – a relatively high percentage for coffee farming. They also have a strong environmental ethic, as they implement various projects to improve soil health and balance, reduce water consumption, and preserve biodiversity. Their coffee is fully washed and processed with strict hygiene and quality standards, ensuring a clean and consistent cup.How did we choose this coffee?
We chose this specific lot from Caniari by setting quality standards and parameters with them. We implemented quality filters at strategic control points during the preharvest, harvest, the processing, and drying phase of this lot. We evaluated physical and cup quality at different steps along the value chain prior to shipping the coffee. This origin has the following characteristics:- Variety: Typica, Caturra, and Catimor

What does it taste like?
This coffee has a complex and balanced profile, with notes of chocolate, caramel, citrus, and floral. It’s perfect for any time of the day, whether you need a morning boost or an afternoon treat. You can brew it with any method you prefer, such as a French press, a pour-over, or an AeroPress. You can also add milk or sugar if you like, but we suggest drinking it black to appreciate its full flavor.
